Dr. Indah Widiastuti gained a research grant from Asian Scholarship Foundation and Ford Foundation that gave her opportunity to travel to Kerala to do research on the traditional-vernacular architecture of Kerala. She was invited to contribute a chapter, in Indian International Centre publication by Kapila Vatsyayan, and Himanshu Prabha ray in an edition “Sacred Landscape of India” where she wrote her exploration on Kerala architecture. Her PhD topic is “Critical study of vernacular settlement-architecture of Kerala in India and Minangkabau in west Sumatra, Indonesia (Of Societies Practicing Matrilineal Kinship)”. Her latest writing is published in 2020 Between Mountain and River: A Vernacular Settlement-Architectural Concept in Indonesian Archipelago, edited by Mainak Ghosh from Jadavpur University.
