About Postgraduate Programs

The postgraduate program at the Department of Petroleum Engineering ITB began in August 1989 based on the Decree of the Director General of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 52/DIKTI Kep./1990. Education level is Masters (S2) Petroleum Engineering with an integrated academic and professional education orientation in the fields of petroleum engineering, natural gas and geothermal. Since the opening of the program, development efforts have continued. Self-evaluation is carried out by following developments in related science and technology, developing and improving the qualifications of teaching staff and paying attention to industry needs. The curriculum underwent changes in 1995 by adding professionalism without reducing scientific aspects and academic weight. The research results and works of graduates of this postgraduate program have penetrated international publications. all the graduates that have been produced have been well absorbed by the world of education and industry. In fact, this postgraduate program has been recognized by leading universities abroad by accepting graduates of the master's program to join the doctoral program. Now, some of them have earned doctorate degrees with very satisfying results.

The vision of the ITB Petroleum Engineering Study Program for the masters stage is "to make the Petroleum Engineering Study Program recognized as a leading international class institution in the fields of Education, Research and Community Service and to become a center for the development of science and technology in the petroleum field". While the mission is to carry out a Higher Education program that produces qualified and highly competitive human resources, conduct research innovations that contribute greatly to the world of petroleum and to develop science and technology as well as provide services and community and industry empowerment in a serious and environmentally sound manner

The objectives of the TM Masters Study Program are in accordance with its mission, namely:

  1. Organizing education to produce quality TM masters and in accordance with industry needs
  2. Conducting research to answer the challenges of oil and gas technology and by involving master's students
  3. Perform community service for community empowerment, especially the oil and gas industry
  4. Improving the quality of education by continuously improving the teaching and learning process (methodology and curriculum)
