A total of 17 participants from various\nindustrial backgrounds took part in this intensive one-day program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event\ncommenced with a laboratory tour at the GEM Lab, where participants were guided\nthrough the facilities and introduced to the advanced instruments and equipment\nused for mineral and metallurgical research. This session provided valuable\ninsights into the laboratory\u2019s cutting-edge capabilities and ongoing projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/multisite.itb.ac.id\/fttmmetallurgy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/463\/2025\/11\/image-4.jpeg\" alt=\"A group of people standing in front of a sign\n\nAI-generated content may be incorrect.\" class=\"wp-image-6607\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ntechnical sessions began with a presentation by Alexander Senaputra, S.T.,\nM.Phil., Ph.D. (General Manager of Processing &amp; Technical Services at PT\nMerdeka Battery Materials). He delivered a lecture titled \u201cBusiness Overview of\nNickel Laterite Ore Processing and Refining,\u201d which discussed the industrial\nand economic perspectives of nickel laterite processing, including market\ntrends, technological challenges, and business strategies in the nickel\nindustry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/multisite.itb.ac.id\/fttmmetallurgy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/463\/2025\/11\/image-1.jpeg\" alt=\"A group of people in a meeting\n\nAI-generated content may be incorrect.\" class=\"wp-image-6604\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The second\nlecture was presented by Prof. Dr.mont. Ir. M. Zaki Mubarok, S.T., M.T. ( Head\nof the Hydro &amp; Electrometallurgy Laboratory, ITB). His session, entitled\n\u201cCharacteristics of Nickel Laterite Ore and Selection of Processing Routes,\u201d\nexplored the mineralogical characteristics of nickel laterite ores and provided\na detailed discussion on the criteria for selecting appropriate processing\nroutes based on ore composition and desired product outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/multisite.itb.ac.id\/fttmmetallurgy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/463\/2025\/11\/image-3.jpeg\" alt=\"A person speaking into a microphone\n\nAI-generated content may be incorrect.\" class=\"wp-image-6608\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The program\ncontinued with a lecture by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Zulfiadi Zulhan, S.T., M.T.,\nIPU. (Head of the Pyrometallurgy Laboratory, ITB), who presented\n\u201cPyrometallurgical Processing and Refining of Nickel Laterite Ore: Process\nFlowsheet, Equipment, Consumables, Slag Management Overview, and Recent\nDevelopments.\u201d His presentation offered a comprehensive explanation of the\npyrometallurgical processing pathway, including furnace design, material\nhandling, slag chemistry, and recent advancements in efficiency and\nsustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/multisite.itb.ac.id\/fttmmetallurgy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/463\/2025\/11\/image-5.jpeg\" alt=\"A person standing in front of a group of people\n\nAI-generated content may be incorrect.\" class=\"wp-image-6609\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The final\nsession was delivered by Ir.
