Friday, 12 April 2019 at the TA\/MG Seminar Room a guest lecture from PT Buki Asam Tbk. was held, with the title “Development of Coal Downstreaming into DME Fuel and High-Value Petrochemical Products by PT Bukit Asam Tbk”.<\/span> Guest Lecture which was originally to be given by Mr. Ir.<\/span> Fuad Iskandar Zulkarnain Fachroeddin, MBA as Director of Business Development at PT Bukit Asam Tbk.<\/span> was replaced by Drs.<\/span> Muhammad Hatta, MBA as Head of Development of Coal Gasification in Tanjung Enim.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In his lecture, Mr. Hatta explained about the process of converting lignite coal through gasification technology into synthetize gas (syngas).<\/span> Syngas will be used as raw material for further processing into final products with higher selling value i.e.,\u00a0 Polypropylene as a raw material for the plastic industry, Dimethyl Ether (DME) as fuel, Urea as fertilizer. <\/span>To develop business from coal to all downstream products, PT Bukit Asam together with PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), and PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk will form a joint venture (JV) to build a coal gasification processing plant in Tanjung Enim.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
