In accordance with ITB’s vision, namely to become a superior, dignified, independent and internationally recognized higher education institution and guide change that is able to improve the welfare of the Indonesian nation and the world, as well as ITB’s mission to create, share and apply knowledge, technology, arts and humanity as well as producing superior human resources to make Indonesia and the world better, the Metallurgical Engineering Study Program FTTM ITB formulates its vision and mission as follows:
VISION
“To become a superior and dignified metallurgical higher education institution at the international level to participate in improving the welfare of the nation.”
MISSION
- Providing education, research and community service in the field of metallurgy with the best quality at national and international levels.
- Producing graduates in the field of metallurgy who are able to process, utilize and manage mineral resources wisely, effectively and efficiently by paying attention to environmental balance and sustainable development and are able to compete at national and international levels.
- Develop ideas about the processing and utilization of mineral resources, metals and their alloys for the greatest prosperity of the Indonesian people, as well as being responsive to every demand for change that develops in society and industry.
The consequence of this vision and mission is that the main strength of the implementation of educational programs in the FTTM ITB Metallurgical Engineering Study Program must be based on the strength of education and research which is reflected in the contribution of this institution through the implementation of education and research which results in development science and technology to help advance the world of mineral processing, metal extraction and metal alloy engineering both nationally and internationally, which in turn can provide benefits for improving the welfare of society. Therefore, to realize this vision, quality research activities must be the main program in supporting educational activities, through final project activities for undergraduate students, thesis research for master’s students and dissertations for doctoral students.
