{"id":6869,"date":"2023-09-13T01:40:17","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T01:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/multisite.itb.ac.id\/fttmgf\/?p=6869"},"modified":"2023-09-13T02:00:32","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T02:00:32","slug":"ccs-technology-can-reduce-co2-gas-emission-problems-related-to-natural-gas-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/multisite.itb.ac.id\/fttmgf\/2023\/09\/13\/ccs-technology-can-reduce-co2-gas-emission-problems-related-to-natural-gas-production\/","title":{"rendered":"CCS Technology Can Reduce CO2 Gas Emission Problems Related to Natural Gas Production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"id\"><span class=\"hps\">Indonesia<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">plans to reduce emissions<\/span> <span class=\"hps\"> CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">by 26<\/span>% <span class=\"hps\">in 2020<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">However,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">large amounts<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">released<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">into the atmosphere during<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">production<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">natural gas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in<\/span> <span class=\" hps\">gas fields<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">viewed as<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">problems for<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">achievement<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">this goal<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">This problem<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">can be resolved<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">by creating a system<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">carbon dioxide capture<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and storage<\/span> <span class=\"hps atn\">(<\/span>CCS ) <span class=\"hps\">technology<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">&#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">where<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2 <\/span> <span class=\"hps\">emitted<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">during production<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">natural gas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">captured and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sealed<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">into the ground<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">&#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">as a means<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">directly<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">reducing emissions<\/span> <span class=\"hps\"> CO2<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">This project<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">will conduct research<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\"> storage development<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">underground<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and technology<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">monitoring<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in the field<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">gas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Gundih<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Central Java<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">where it is produced<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">natural gas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">scheduled to start<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"id\"><span class=\"hps\">The goal of the project is<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to develop technology<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">geology<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">geophysics<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">subsurface<\/span> for <span class=\"hps\">evaluate<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">storage<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">inside<\/span> in <span class=\"hps\">and around<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">gas fields<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for monitoring<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">injection<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">movement<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ensuring<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">distribution<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">behavior<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in storage<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">The results achieved<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">will be used<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to systematize<\/span> <span class=\"hps \">technology<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CCS<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">underground storage<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">safe from<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">emitted<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">during production <\/span> <span class=\"hps\">natural gas<\/span> and <span class=\"hps\">help reduce emissions<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CO2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">on a global scale<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is the process of capturing CO2 waste from a source such as a fossil fuel power plant (including from natural gas production activities) and storing it in an underground geological formation so that it does not enter the atmosphere. The goal is to prevent the release of large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. Although Co2 has been injected into geological formations for decades for various purposes, including enhanced oil recovery, long-term storage of CO2 is a relatively new concept.
