Geophysics Instrumentation and Electronics Laboratory

Head of Laboratory : Dr. Teddy Setiawan

The Geophysics Instrumentation and Electronics Laboratory is equipped with tools for retrieving geophysical data. The main purpose of the geophysical instrumentation function is to simulate and/or to obtain geophysical measurements, either on a laboratory scale or in field research.

Equipment :

SEISMOGRAPH OYO 12 & 24 CHN, BOREHOLE HYDROPHONE, BOREHOLE PICK, SEISMOGRAPH DAQLINK III SYSTEM, SEISTRONIX RAS 24, etc.

Geophysics Computing Laboratory

Head of Laboratory : Dr. Alfian Bahar

The computational laboratory is specifically a computer laboratory for seismic data processing. The list of hardware in the geophysical computing laboratory includes Workstations, Servers, UPS: 6 x Riello 60kVA, HDD LS-Disk, 14 HDD Rack. Workstations and commercial software are donations from alumni.

Some of the software contained in this laboratory include:

  • ProMAX and Seismic Unix – software for seismic data processing.
  • OMEGA Software – software for seismic data processing and seismic acquisition design.

Seismology and Geodynamics Laboratory

Head of Laboratory : Afnimar, Ph.D

Research: Seismic analysis to understand the characteristics of earthquakes, subsurface velocity models and geodynamics of the earth in general. Research includes determining earthquake parameters, determining the mechanism of the earthquake source, subsurface imaging and geodynamics.

Tools: Software and Hardware (PC)

Characterization and Modeling Physical Properties of Rocks Laboratory

Head of Laboratory : Prof. Satria Bijaksana

Research: Reconstruction of paleoclimate, environmental magnetism, and magnetic characterization of volcanic rocks.

Equipment:

Spinner Magnetometer, Magnetic Susceptibility Meter, Molspin AF Demagnetizer

Volcanology and Geothermal Laboratory

Head of Laboratory : Dr. Andri Dian Nugraha

Research: Seismic analysis (event) on volcanoes and geothermal includes determining the location of the event, determining a one-dimensional velocity model, as well as subsurface imaging of volcanoes and geothermal using body wave velocity and ambient noise models. Subsurface imaging of volcanoes aims to analyze the source and distribution of magma. On the other hand, subsurface imaging in geothermal fields has the goal of modeling geothermal energy.

Equipment:

Magnetometer, Paulin Altimeter, Kompas Geologi, Magnetometer, Seismograf, Gravity Meter, EM Radar, GPS, VLF, Sonic Viewer, Magnetometer, Osciloskop

Engineering and Environmental Geophysics Laboratory

Head of Laboratory : Dr. rer. nat. Ir. Wahyudi

The engineering and environmental geophysics laboratory focuses on the use of geophysical methods in dealing with various engineering and environmental problems. The application of geophysical methods in this field can be applied in imaging subsurface conditions in infrastructure development, disaster mitigation, monitoring, groundwater, pollution.

Equipment :

This laboratory is supported by several tools for data acquisition or processing such as Ground Penetrating Radar (Shielded and Non-Shielded), EMP-400, Refraction Seismic, etc.
