ITB’s 58th Anniversary, Geophysical Engineering Study Program Introduces Itself to High School Students
Bandung – In commemoration of the 58th Anniversary, the Institute of Technology Bandung held a work exhibition as well as a open house faculty on Sunday (05/03/17). This event is one of the main events in student activities entitled “ITB Day” which is under the auspices of the ITB 2017 program.
In this event, which was attended by thousands of high school students from all over the country, the ITB Geophysical Engineering Study Program also participated in filling one of the stands provided. This participation does not only involve undergraduate or postgraduate students, but also involves teaching staff (Lecturers). In general, the goal to be fulfilled is the delivery of information related to science in related fields. The more specific aim is to introduce the ITB Geophysical Engineering study program to high school students.
In conveying information about the science involved, Geophysical Engineering provides presentations in the form of tool demonstrations, video demonstrations about geophysical methods, as well as research posters from the academic community within the ITB Geophysical Engineering Study Program. The tools demonstrated were the Proton magnetometer and GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar).
When asked for information, Ryan Bobby Andika (TG’14), who is the person in charge of the ITB Day event, said that in this ITB Day activity, the theme raised was “Knowing to be able to work”. “We firmly believe and believe that the progress of a nation can be seen from whether or not a member of the nation is willing to work. A child of the nation who dares to devote his time, thoughts and energy to produce something that is beneficial to others and himself.” he said.
From the results of observations in the field during the event, the Geophysical Engineering stand was relatively attractive to the visitors who came. This can be seen from the number & the enthusiasm of those who took the time to visit the Geophysical Engineering study program stand.
“The purpose of this Study Program stand is to make our high school students familiar, so that they can work for this nation in the future. We are very sure that no matter how bad a human being is born, they must have what is called motivation in their life. Whether it is good or bad and aimed at the interests of a person, group of people, or himself. With this basic characteristic, we believe that if we are able to create a good path to direct towards the goals of progress and benefit of the Indonesian nation, we and this country will be lucky in facing the future.” Ryan added.
“My hope for the presence of the Geophysical Engineering stand is simple. I hope that the visiting high school students will know that the role of this study program is vital for the progress of the Indonesian nation. More than that, I hope that the high school students will be motivated to dare to work in the scope and environment of science, arts and technology through presentations at the ITB Geophysical Engineering stand.” he closed.
