Geo-Lunch Talk, Two-Week Discussion of ITB Geophysical Engineering
Geo-Lunch Talk is a thematic discussion on Geophysical Engineering ITB which is held on Fridays every two weeks. Geo-Lunch Talk is a brilliant idea from Dr. Tedi Yudhistira and assisted totally by Dr. David P. Sahara.
The initial idea of Geo-Lunch Talk was as a medium for exchanging information, stories, knowledge and experiences among lecturers in Geophysical Engineering. Geo-Lunch Talk  ;designed in a relaxed, meaningful atmosphere and of course while drinking coffee after lunch together.
Geo-Lunch Talk The first was held on Friday, October 26 2018. Dr. Darharta Dahrin was willing to be a speaker at the first Geo-Lunch Talk event. Topics presented by Dr. Darharta Dahrin is about problems in geophysics. An interesting topic and very useful to read.
One of the problems in Geophysics is uncertainty in geophysical measurements and modeling. In his presentation slide, Dr. Darharta Dahrin explained several case studies of geophysical measurements for exploration. Each geophysical measurement will provide data that represents the characteristics of the object being observed. Any data obtained will be processed using a certain method, so that it will provide information that can be used as a reference in the interpretation of an object below the surface.
An object that is at a certain depth can be understood from a model produced from measurement data and a process from a mathematical theorem approach. Each mathematical approach applied provides an uncertainty figure. The uncertainty level in a geophysical model produced is one of the confidence level parameters when interpreting. If the uncertainty number in a model is small then the level of confidence will be large, and vice versa.
The second Geo-Lunch Talk was held on Friday, November 9 2018. Prof. Nanang T. Puspito is willing to be a speaker at the second Geo-Lunch Talk . An interesting and very useful topic presented by Prof. Nanang. A topic that is fundamental, not only in the world of geophysics, but also touches every line and aspect of national and state life.
Prof. Nanang raised the topic of discussion about anti-corruption education at ITB. Anti-Corruption Education at ITB was initiated in 2009 and has become a reference in several PTN/PTS in Indonesia.
In his presentation slide, Prof. Nanang conveyed several important points in preventing acts of corruption. Among them is an understanding of the definition of corruption, prevention efforts, moral sensitivity and law enforcement. One of the most important things is moral sensitivity, in this case honesty. Honesty is a basic issue in preventing corruption. If the honesty rate is high, then it is certain that the number of acts of corruption will decrease, but vice versa.
Two Geo-Lunch Talks
The interesting topics presented in the two Geo-Lunch Talks above can open up new insights and knowledge for every participant present. The diversity of topics presented in the Geo-Lunch Talk will certainly provide open insight and thought. (ZFZ)
