The group of participants in the 2017 Karangsambung Field Lecture has departed

Bandung – Participants in the 2017 Karangsambung field lecture of the ITB Geophysical Engineering Study Program have departed Monday (08/05/17). The group of participants departed  via Bandung Station at 07.20 WIB. Before the participants departed, an opening ceremony was first held around the station parking area. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana again reminded the participants to always pay attention to behavior and attitudes and respect the norms that exist in society. “We are in the midst of society, we should behave ourselves when we are outside. I hope you can become mature people.” he stressed. Don’t miss it, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso, M.Sc. also giving a short speech, he advised all participants to always maintain discipline and ethics while outside campus.

After this short brief, the participants were immediately directed to the main room of Bandung station to distribute boarding pass tickets. Exactly at 07.20, the Lodaya train used started leaving. The Bandung – Gombong trip takes around 6 hours. Next, the journey from Gombong to Karangsambung is taken by land. The journey takes approximately one hour.

Upon arrival at the LIPI Karangsambung campus, the 2017 Karangsambung field study participants were immediately directed to their respective dormitories. Male undergraduate program participants are placed in the Waturanda dormitory, female participants (undergraduate program) are placed in the Panasogan dormitory, meanwhile participants from the master’s program are placed in the Totogan dormitory together with assistants.

After dinner, the activity continued with lectures delivered by Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso, M.Sc with material “Why study in the field?”. Next, the evening lecture activity closed with material presented by Dr. Ir. Budi Brahmantyo, M.Sc. with the topic “Geological Observations (Rock Outcrops), Geomorphological Interpretation & Sketches.”
