Member of HIMA TG “TERRA” Elected as Chair of OSKM ITB 2017
Bandung –After a fairly long and rigorous selection process, Agung Cahyo Syamsu, a 2014 student in the Geophysical Engineering study program, was finally selected as Chair of the 2017 ITB Student Family Study Orientation (OSKM). Quoted from the site itb.ac.id, OSKM ITB is an initial cadre formation activity for new ITB students. OSKM aims to welcome new students and provide them with various insights about student affairs.
Carrying the theme “Mosaic Movement for Indonesia”, Agung wants to convey that every person with the smallest contribution, will be able to provide extraordinary benefits when those small contributions are combined. When asked about his reasons for being interested in running as a candidate for Chair of the largest cadre formation party at ITB, Agung said that he felt valuable experience in initial centralized cadre formation with different roles. Enjoying these roles made him realize how important the initial cadre formation moment is centered on forming the personality of new students, prospective family members in ITB Student Affairs.
“In my first year as a new student, I found a lot of new inspiration that made me realize that I was no longer a high school student who only thought about how to study and how to achieve, filling in report cards with grades that made me and my parents smile proud. But far more than that, we are students. And from now on, I have become a person who has been given a mandate by society to be the initiator of the problems that exist and are experienced by this nation. Because in reality, life is not only about ourselves. “And in fact, the sons and daughters of the nation’s hope are not a series of words without meaning.” he said.
“In my second year as a mentor, I found inspiration that there are, there are new hopes growing in this country every year. Faces that come full of dreams and ambitions. Faces that are thirsty for inspiration about how they should be a complete student. Then we share, inspire, and provide opinions on how we should act on all existing problems; how we respond and how we provide solutions.” he added.
Agung emphasized that starting from simple things and starting from yourself are principles that every person must understand. Furthermore, he feels that the opportunity to grow by inspiring many elements around us is a real thing that must be pursued from the start. These inspirations are the impact of the movements of individuals who have intention and feeling. This intention and feeling are the capital in producing many works in every sector of life. The works come together to form small mosaics. Work that can inspire those around you. Inspiration that can generate awareness among individuals in Indonesian society. Through OSKM, Agung believes that many ideas and works will be born and created on this campus, ideas and works that will then be assembled into a mosaic, a mosaic of movements that can inspire Indonesia.
