Karangsambung Field Lecture, Transformation Event to Become a Junior Geophysicist
Bandung – On Saturday (11/2), the Geophysical Engineering Study Program of the Bandung Institute of Technology held the first lecture in a series of pre-lecture activities in the Karangsambung field. The activity was opened with remarks by the Head of the ITB Geophysical Engineering Undergraduate Study Program,Dr. Andri Dian Nugraha, S.Si., M.Si. In his speech, he reminded the participants that in preparing themselves for the Karangsambung field lecture activities, all participants, both undergraduate and postgraduate students, must always uphold the values of discipline.
Furthermore, the event was filled with detailed presentations related to the technical implementation of Karangsambung field lecture activities presented by Prof. Dr. Wise Warrior. Before explaining further, he began his explanation of the Karangsambung field study activities with a question to all participants, “Why do you need field studies?” “Field study (Karangsambung) is an opportunity for you Geophysical Students to transform into a Junior Geophysicist. Regarding the urgency of this field study, the ITB Geophysical Engineering study program shows its serious commitment with the allocation The Karangsambung field study budget reaches 30% of the annual budget for the Geophysical Engineering study program.” he said.
This year’s Karangsambung field lecture activities according to schedule will be held on 8-21 May 2017, where the group of participants will depart on Monday, 8 May 2017. The initial agenda for the Karangsambung field lecture activities will be focused on Geological aspects (9-14 May) and then continued with Geophysical data acquisition activities (15-18 May). The end of the Karangsambung field lecture activities will be filled with report presentations from each group (19 May). Next, the group of undergraduate students will return to Bandung on May 20. Especially for Master’s students, there will be additional activities so that they will return to Bandung on Sunday, May 21 2017.
Later, this field study activity will be attended by 70 undergraduate program students, 18 master’s program students, 21 assistants, around 23 lecturers, and 4 technicians. Related to the busy activities that will be carried out later. Dr. Andri Dian Nugraha, S.Si., M.Si. again reminded participants to prepare for field study activities as fully as possible. “Just administrative preparation is not enough, participants are required to make physical and field preparations. “I hope that the participants will take part in all the pre-Karangsambung lecture activities facilitated by the ITB Geophysical Engineering study program.” he closed.
