Berdasarkan keputusan Rapat Staf Pengajar Prodi Teknik Kelautan ITB maka sejak periode wisuda Oktober 2006, calon Wisudawan diwajibkan mengikuti dan lulus Ujian Komprehensif sebelum Sidang Tugas Akhir. Pelaksanaan ujian ini dapat dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah Seminar Tugas Akhir.
Berikut ini beberapa hal penting tentang Ujian Komprehensif.

1. Tujuan Ujian Komprehensif adalah untuk menguji pengetahuan Mahasiswa dalam bidang Teknik Kelautan.
2. Ujian diadakan satu kali setiap periode wisuda atau tiga kali dalam setahun.
3. Hasil ujian berlaku selama satu tahun terhitung sejak tanggal dilaksanakan ujian dan hasil ujian dinyatakan tidak berlaku lagi apabila melebihi waktu satu tahun serta wajib diambil ulang.
4.  Syarat mengikuti ujian: telah lulus Kerja Praktek dan Sisa SKS Maksimal 17 SKS diluar Tugas Akhir.
5. Topik-topik yang diujikan meliputi:
   • Mekanika Rakayasa
   • Mekanika Fluida dan Hidrodinamika
   • Mekanika Gelombang Air
   • Mekanika Tanah

Ujian Komprehensif terakhir yang telah dilaksanakan oleh Prodi Teknik Kelautan pada hari Sabtu tanggal 07 April 2007. Jadwal selanjutnya pada hari Sabtu tanggal 05 Mei 2007.
