Jakarta \u2013 The Oceanography Study Program at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) held a workshop titled “Campus and Professional Synergy: Strategies for Safe and Quality Internship Guidance” on Friday (August 8, 2025) at the ITB Jakarta Campus, Graha Irama (Indorama) Building, South Jakarta.<\/span><\/span> This workshop aimed to evaluate the student internship program and strengthen the protection and quality of internships through collaboration with the professional world.<\/span><\/span> The workshop, held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM WIB, featured speakers from the Social Security Agency for Employment (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) and the Department of Oceanography and Meteorology (Disosemet) of the Hydrosal Research and Development Center (Pushidrosal).<\/span><\/span> The event was opened by the Head of the ITB Oceanography Study Program, followed by a presentation on the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan protection program for student interns, as well as an overview of the internship program, career opportunities, and the internship registration process at Pushidrosal.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Through this outreach, we want to ensure students understand the importance of protection during their internships, which also carry work risks like those of workers in general,” said Ramdani, Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Jakarta Plaza Branch Office.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Faruq Khadami, a lecturer at the ITB Oceanography Study Program, emphasized that this activity provides strategic benefits for internship supervisors and students.<\/span><\/span> “This workshop provides us with important information and evaluations to ensure the safety and quality of internship programs undertaken by Oceanography students,” he said.<\/span><\/span> Workshop participants included internship supervisors, students, and recent graduates of the Oceanography Study Program.<\/span><\/span> According to the organizers, the background to this activity stems from cases of accidents involving students during internships or Community Service Programs (KKN) at several other universities, although this has never happened at ITB Oceanography.<\/span><\/span> Therefore, the involvement of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and internship partners is considered crucial to ensure students understand their rights to protection during their internships.<\/span><\/span> As a follow-up, the Oceanography Study Program will register students undergoing internships this semester for the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan protection program.<\/span><\/span> “This step will ensure students are better protected during their internships,” said Dr. Iwan Anwar, the person in charge of the Oceanography Study Program Internship Program.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
