HISTORY <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FITB) was originally part of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Mineral Technology (FIKTM).<\/span><\/span> The idea of \u200b\u200bexpanding FIKTM emerged because of the wide spectrum of earth sciences and the emergence of a dichotomy of science and engineering.<\/span><\/span> This situation resulted in differences between fields of science related to resource management, especially in supporting the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education at FIKTM.<\/span><\/span> Fields of earth sciences such as geology, geophysics, meteorology and oceanography study the earth to be able to understand phenomena that are certainly useful for various things related to human life, including providing an overview of the resources contained in the earth.<\/span><\/span> These fields have a large scientific content but are not free from their applied content.<\/span><\/span> Meanwhile, the field that studies the resources contained in the earth, in addition to requiring basic knowledge of earth science, also needs to be equipped with various applied methods and methods to quantify the potential and reserves, exploit, process, and manage (manage) earth resources so that they can be utilized optimally.<\/span><\/span> Applied fields that have a greater engineering content include mining and oil.<\/span><\/span> Based on the above considerations, FIKTM was expanded into the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FITB) and the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM).<\/span><\/span> The purpose of establishing the two Concerned Scientific Units (UKS) is to develop a more focused scientific institution in order to achieve the vision of becoming an international institution.<\/span><\/span> A leaner organization certainly has better management control so that it is expected to be more agile and alert in choosing steps to achieve this vision.<\/span><\/span> With each UKS being more focused, it is hoped that the role of UKS, including KK and study programs within it, will increase, both internally and externally to answer the various challenges faced by the nation and state of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/span><\/span> The expansion of the faculty was strengthened by: Decree of the Rector of the Bandung Institute of Technology number 040\/K01\/SK\/OT\/2007 concerning the Change of FIKTM to the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM) and the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FITB) and Decree of the Rector of the Bandung Institute of Technology number 257\/SK\/K01\/OT\/2007 concerning the Transfer of the Geodesy and Geomatics Study Program and Geodesy Science\/Expertise Group, Geographical Detection and Information Science Group, Hydrographic Science and Engineering Group, Surveying and Cadastre Group from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering to the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FITB) of the Bandung Institute of Technology.<\/span><\/span> VISION To become a superior, dignified, independent, and internationally recognized university and to guide changes that can improve the welfare of the Indonesian nation and the world.<\/span><\/span> (Source: 09\/SK\/I1-SA\/OT\/2011) MISSION Creating, sharing and applying science, technology, art and humanity and producing superior human resources to make Indonesia and the world better.<\/span><\/span> (Source: 09\/SK\/I1-SA\/OT\/2011) PERSPECTIVE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACCORDING TO FITB Earth science or often referred to as earth science or geoscience along with other basic sciences, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology should be part of the national strategy to improve “science literacy” (AGU, 2004).<\/span><\/span> In line with that, FITB has complete human resources to study earth phenomena consisting of the lithosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere.<\/span><\/span> This good division of roles makes FITB need to promote earth science as a whole.<\/span><\/span> By joining the Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering study program which brings the characteristics of positioning technology and measurement of earth landscape, it will increase the strength of FITB as the only faculty that studies the earth from a scientific and technological perspective.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
